Fruit Skin Benefits

Most people are used to throw away the fruit skin after eating fruits. However, some of those skins can bring great benefits to health and they can help fight against a variety of diseases and disorders.

Watermelon skin can be used for suppressing thirst and detoxifying. Frankly speaking, their skin is even better than then the pulp of a watermelon. In traditional Chinese medicine, the watermelon skin are mixed with the pulps to be used for relieving restlessness and reducing blood pressure. They are also used for treatment on various disorders like anaemia, dry throat, cleft lip, cystitis, nephritis, liver ascites etc.

The skin of wax gourds can be used for treatment of some disorders such as abdominal distension and abnormal urination caused by kidney and lung diseases. The water soaked with the wax gourd skin can be used to cure athlete’s foot and a variety of other foot disorders.

Cucumber skin can also have great nutritional effects on human body. Green cucumbers contain chlorogenic acids and caffeic acids which has wonderful antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Consumption of cucumbers with skin is a great panacea for people suffering from sore throat.

Banana skins contain special pigment which can inhibit the effective ingredients of fungi and bacteria and heal skin pruritus caused by fungal infection. Banana skins can also improve the functionality of lungs and intestines and promote blood circulation. Smashed banana skins mixed with ginger have anti-inflammatory effects. Also, smashed banana skins rubbed hand and foot can prevent chilblains in winter.

Cellulite (orange peel) has the effect of relieving symptoms caused by excessive phlegm and lowering blood pressure. Cellulite can be used in treatment of a variety of disorders related with cough such as abdominal distention, nausea, vomiting, etc. The special flavonoid substance contained in orange peel can expand coronary arteries and increase coronary blood flow. Also, the flavor of the orange peel tea is fragrant and pleasant to drink.
