Olive Oil And Cancer
Considered as one of the most healthy cooking oil, olive oil can help people who consume them in their daily diet to fight against cancer and other severe diseases. Cancer is one of the main causes of death of human beings in today’s society, and cell oxidation is one of the main causes of formation of cancer cells. Cell oxidation will enhance the possibility of the development of free radicals, and increased number of free radicals makes people more vulnerable to cancer.
In terms of reducing cancer risk, the daily diet will play a crucial role. Those foods containing antioxidants can slow the oxidation process and thus lower the risk of cancer. Generally, the cancers which are closely related to the daily diet include colon cancer, prostate cancer and breast cancer. Toxins that cause gene mutations will result in abnormal cell growth and cell development. Toxins can enter the body through food or bad lifestyles such as smoking, alcohol consumption, drugs and excessive sunlight etc. The toxin entering the human body would facilitate the formation of free radicals, which will result in abnormal cell growth and development of chain reaction.
To fight against free radicals and the oxidation processes, a high level of antioxidant vitamins and diet can play an important role, and olive oil can quicken the production of these chemicals. Recent studies showed that the composition of fat is a key factor in the overall healthy diet. It is believed that high saturated fat diet will quicken the oxidation process. On the other hand, high-monounsaturated fat diet which is rich in antioxidants will slow or stop the oxidation process. Among all vegetable oil types, olive oil contains one of the highest levels of unsaturated fatty acids, and they are healthy choices for your daily diet.
Olive oil contains a large amount of antioxidants, squalene, vitamin e and polyphenols, which can inhibit the formation of free radicals and slow down the oxidation processes. Vitamin E is fat-soluble, which means that it can be stored in the body for a long time. The main unsaturated fatty acids in olive oil is oleic acid which can help prevent colon cancer. Other chemicals such as squalene also have many positive effects to lower the risk of various cancers.
