Osteoporosis Diet

With the growing age and reduced the amount of bone, old people have a higher risk of osteoporosis induced by physiological factors. Currently there are still no effective methods for treatment of osteoporosis using medicines. However, if osteoporosis can be noticed early and corresponding prevention procedures have been done, the incidence of osteoporosis can be greatly reduced.

Modern medical researches show that osteoporosis usually occurs because of the lack of calcium and vitamin d intake is inadequate. In addition to adequate exercise, more exposure to sunlight which can enhance the absorption of calcium, extra intake of phosphorus and vitamin AD supplement pills, the most effective and easy way is to increase the intake of food with abundant calcium and vitamin d which can bring great benefits for prevention and treatment of osteoporosis. Generally, food containing calcium include dairy products, legumes products, seafood, seeds, sesame, walnut and black fungus plants. Foods containing vitamin d include liver, egg yolks, meat etc. For a balanced diet, you should eat enough vegetables and fresh fruits to facilitate the absorption of calcium.

Experts suggested that the best way for prevention of osteoporosis is the food therapy. They made a through study on 21 types of vegetables and compare them on the effectiveness of osteoporosis prevention. Most vegetables are able to prevent and reduce the risk of osteoporosis. Among these vegetables, some species like lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, purple cauliflower, spring onions, garlic, celery and carrots. These vegetables have a better effect on the prevention of osteoporosis than those calcium-abundant food such as milk, soy or oyster. They can effectively prevent the loss of bone calcium and thus facilitate the prevention of osteoporosis. They are even better than some expensive new medicine for treating osteoporosis.
