Walnut Oil Benefits
As a great substitute for olive oil, walnut oil has already been confirmed by many scientific studies regarding its benefits for heart health and effectiveness to prevent cancer. Walnut oil is a common type of oil which can can be purchased at most health food stores and it is a great alternative to other edible oils such as olive oil etc. However, because of its short storage life, it should be consumed within six months after the opening of the container.
Walnut oil contains positive chemicals which are helpful for treatment of dry skin, eczema and dandruff. Due to its vegetable property, it will not cause acne or clogged pores even on sensitive skins. As a result, it is a good oil choice for facial or body massage. Also, it contains a great amount of melatonin which is a type of hormone that can maintain the natural sleep cycle, relieve depression symptoms and promote the health of the immune system.
Walnut oil contains abundant Omega-3 fatty acids which can help lower cholesterol levels and maintain the function of blood vessels. It is generally considered that reduced cholesterol and healthy blood vessel can also reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases. Moreover, walnut oil contains various acids including ellagic acid, gallic acid and malic acid. They are special antioxidants with strong anti-inflammatory and antiviral properties. It is reported that ellagic acid may delay the growth of certain tumors based on a certain preliminary animal experiments.
